Is it really free?
Yes. Shortit is free, no credit card needed. A Pro plan is planned, with no price announced: the links you create today will keep working.
What do you see for each click?
The country, the referring site, the device type and the browser. This data is aggregated: Shortit never shows an IP address.
Are dangerous links accepted?
No. Every address is checked before a link is created, and a link flagged as dangerous is refused. You can also report abuse from the footer.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, your domain (your-site.com) or a subdomain (go.your-site.com): add the verification TXT record shown in your account, then a CNAME to shortit.fr for a subdomain, or an A record to the address shown for a bare domain.
What happens to my data?
You can export your data and delete your account at any time from the settings. Your rights of access, rectification and erasure (GDPR) can also be exercised by e-mail; everything is detailed in the privacy policy.
Where is the data hosted, and how is it protected?
In France, in the Paris region. The IP address of a visitor who opens a link is never stored; the one belonging to an account holder is kept for one year in a security log. Passwords are stored as a hash, never in plain text. Sign-ins, code requests and link creations are rate-limited to curb abuse.
